Ingrid Horrocks on swimming with family in a time of ecological crisis – Life Matters

New Zealand author Ingrid Horrocks has always enjoyed swimming, but she became concerned about the health of her local waterways, with increasing reports that many places in Aotearoa were becoming too polluted for swimming.

Ingrid embarked on a solo swimming journey, aiming to find out more and swim in as many places as she could between Wellington and Auckland.

This journey turned into an unexpected exploration of life, family and the fragility of our planet, resulting in her latest book, ‘Where We Swim’.

Ingrid Horrocks, poet, author and Associate Professor in Creative Writing at Massey University in Aotearoa New Zealand
